What comes from the heart reaches the heart
...“I believe wholeheartedly that the links between
these two worlds [Islam & the West] matter more today than ever before, because the degree of misunderstanding
between the Islamic and Western worlds remains dangerously high, and because
the need for the two to live and work together in our increasingly
interdependent world has never been greater. At the same time I am only too
well aware of the minefields which lie across the path of the inexpert
traveller who is bent on exploring this difficult route. Some of what I shall
say will undoubtedly provoke disagreement, criticism, misunderstanding and,
knowing my luck, probably worse. But perhaps, when all is said and done, it is
worth recalling another Arab proverb: 'What comes from the lips reaches the
ears. What comes from the heart reaches the heart.'
